Chicken Run

Well the hubs is on a hunting trip out of state so it’s just been Duke and I holding down the fort this week. Luckily, we made some major improvements to our chicken operation before he left so it’s super manageable, even for me. The girls were having way too easy of a time flying the coop, literally, despite wing clipping. So we finally made a run, roof and all. And as a result, our egg count has magically gone […]

Fall on the Farm

I was finally able to get some fall decorating done over the past couple of weekends. Even though it’s still pushing 90 degrees some days, we’re in fall mode now. The hubby was able to find discarded pumpkins and gourds that grew all on their own over the past year so they were FREE. Hard to beat! Now back to baking with the hundreds of apples we picked from our own mini orchard. Happy Fall Y’all!

Discount Store(s) Haul

When the mood/inspiration strikes or when Facebook tells you a local discount store had a Sam’s Club home decor buy out, you take the better part of a morning and go get some goodies. I was thrilled with this wreath for $9 and feel like it’s a much better fit for this large of a door and really goes with those ferns. The smaller green one pops with those flowers too. (The only living things on that porch are me […]

Mini Funnel Cakes

Happy Weekend! It’s fair season around here and that makes me crave fair food in the worst way. Give me all the turkey legs, lemonade and funnel cakes. Luckily, I found a recipe to allow me to indulge without actually having to go to any fair this summer. Pro Tip: They don’t mention it but you can tell from the pictures that you have to cut the squeeze bottle to make for a thicker pour. And if you want to […]

Gel Manicure at Home

I’ve gone to get my nails done twice in my life, once with my bestie and once for my wedding. And both were on the same gift card from my sister in law. Needless to say, it’s not something I splurge on. When I do paint my own nails, they either chip the day after or most of the time, the day of. But with my new job, I like to have them done as people are actually seeing me […]

Hope before Faith

After a particularly jarring dream about having a miscarriage, I woke up this morning feeling more defeated than normal in my TTC (trying to conceive) journey. But with some much needed wisdom from my mother this week, I have been making more of an effort to hand it all over to God and listen to His guidance, however He may present it to me, one day at a time. So I made breakfast for the hubs and I, he left […]

Southwest Salad

These are leftovers y’all. From our previous nights dinner, grilled chicken with avocado salsa. Both options are so, so good. For the leftover salad, I chopped the chicken and topped green leaf lettuce with the avocado salsa, black olives, mozzarella cheese, and tortilla salad strips. You could add corn, salsa, sour cream, a southwest ranch, etc. If you omit the tortilla strips, this meal remains keto. I just couldn’t resist. I love meals that are so versatile, and still healthy, […]

Summer Night Cruise

So my husband bought a yellow Jeep Wrangler which was my dream car for most of middle school and into high school. This thing is from about that time ha It’s not brand new but serves it purpose as a farm vehicle and barely cost us anything. We took it for a cruise last night and I LOVED it. Windows down, radio up, there really isn’t anything better.

Landscaping and Rock Wall

So here it is! Our new landscaping, complete with a rock retaining wall. I love it so much. The grass has finally started to come up so I felt like I could take some decent photos and the sunshine today agreed with me. The smaller plants are burning bushes and I cannot wait for them to fill out and change color in the fall and winter months. We still have some more ideas for the front of wall including more […]

4th of July Decor

It’s “Bargain Weekend” in our little town which means yard sales galore. And sales at some of my favorite country decor stores. So I hit the road early this morning and snagged a couple of super cute accent pieces, then hit Wal-Mart (I know, the Saturday before a holiday week) and managed to get some flags for the 4th of July, which are showcased in our latest landscaping additions. (This isn’t all of them though – wait until you see […]
