French Toast Recipe

There’s nothing better than starting my morning cooking breakfast with my husband before going out to feed the animals in this polar vortex. Especially something as comforting as this french toast recipe that my dad made us countless weekend mornings growing up. My favorite ingredient has to be the orange zest. Such a simple addition that makes a world of difference. Ingredients 2 large eggs 1 tbl milk 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp vanilla 1 tsp sugar (opt) 1 orange […]

Healthy Start

Starting my Sunday off right with this breakfast as part of my new low sugar, low carb “diet”. I hate to call it a diet because this is more a lifestyle adjustment that hopefully sticks. I’ve been loving the results so far and getting to eat something as yummy and filling as this makes it that much easier to follow. Ingredients 1/2 cup plain, whole fat yogurt 1/2 cup strawberries, sliced 1/2 banana, sliced drizzle of honey Layer ingredients in […]

Intermittent Fasting

In my seemingly endless TTC journey, I’ve tried just about everything the internet and/or Pinterest had to offer. But in my quest to lose weight and get to a healthier BMI, intermittent fasting was something I was certain I couldn’t do. But I went for it and could not be happier that I did! It’s a surprisingly smooth adjustment. And works. I lost 11 pounds and did not feel deprived at all. I also focused on limiting, no necessarily eliminating […]

Independence Day

This has been our largest and loudest lambing season so far since we started raising sheep almost four years ago, before we even lived here. Over 50 lambs are what can be heard in the barn currently, as they were just weaned from their mamas and no one is very happy about it (although I will say some of the mothers seem a little too relieved). Obviously, not all of the lambs are pictured; a few were also happy to […]

Home Office(s)

So we were lucky enough to “inherit” this gorgeous desk from the in laws and during a recent stretch of days off, it became the starting point to rearranging not one, not two, but three rooms. We were able to (finally) set up the husbands office, which took two days to organize (not pictured – the mounds of paperwork to sort through). So to fit the amazingly roomy desk, we had to remove some things and move them to the […]

Merry & Bright

These decorations are comprised mostly of gifts and left behind treasures I found in the basement of this wonderful farmhouse. The snow globe is from when I was a kid, as are many of the ornaments on our real tree from Sam’s Club. The milk jug is one of several we found on the property, which you can see in the framed picture above the bread box in it’s former glory (no, we no longer have the barn but hope […]

Sunday Drive

I love exploring where we get to live and spending time with my hubby while we do it. This is the view from the PA State Game Lands that we drove last weekend. I mean, #breathtaking, right? The fact that you can see our farm and my in laws farm is pretty amazing too.

Missing Fall but Ready for Spring

I’m playing a bit of catch up starting this blog this time of year but I had to share my most recent fall decor. As I get rolling, if there is any interest in me doing so, I will link what I can. Most of these items are from Hobby Lobby, Walmart and the Dollar Store, as well as local greenhouses and the pumpkin patch in our backyard. But some things, like the old tractor wheel that we found in […]
